Featured Speaker – Chief Mark Caillier, City of Auburn Police Department
Chief Mark Caillier has been a police officer since 1991, starting his law enforcement career with the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Caillier joined the Auburn Police Department in 1994.
While an Auburn officer, he served as a Patrol officer, Major Crimes Detective, Field Training Officer, EVOC Instructor, SWAT Officer and a K9 handler. In 2007, he was promoted to Sergeant where I supervised Patrol, the Property Crimes Unit, then later the Major Crimes Unit.
He was promoted to the rank of Commander in 2013. As a Commander, he supervised the Patrol Division and Inspectional Services Division. He has served as a Team Leader for the Valley Civil Disturbance Unit and was a lead supervisor for the Valley Investigations Team. He was promoted to Assistant Police Chief in 2018, before being appointed Police Chief in October 2021.
He has twice been awarded the department Medal of Distinction and is a past recipient of the American Red Cross Hero Award. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Washington State University, is a 2017 graduate of Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs.
